StandardsOS builds on the original ePortfolio idea: helping professionals record evidence, reflect on their practice, track their development and prove their competence. That work showed that a good ePortfolio is not just a folder of documents; it is a structured record of growth, evidence, responsibility and readiness. The same principle applies to organisations.
StandardsOS began from a simple but important idea. Teachers and professionals should be able to build a trusted record of their development. Their training, reflections, evidence, achievements, competencies and progress should not be lost in folders, emails or disconnected systems.
That was the starting point behind the original ePortfolio work, which was recognised with a Commonwealth Award for its innovative approach to portable, verifiable professional credentials.
Over time, it became clear that the same problem existed at organisational level. Organisations also struggle with scattered evidence, unclear standards, disconnected records, repeated manual checks, hidden gaps and knowledge locked inside people's heads.
StandardsOS was created to take the ePortfolio idea further. Instead of only asking, βWhat evidence does this person have?β, it asks: what does the organisation need to prove, which people are responsible, what standards apply, what is missing, and how can staff grow into future roles.
The eportfolios.org platform received a Commonwealth Award for its approach to portable, verifiable professional credentials β the foundation on which StandardsOS is built.
Every organisation faces the same challenge: important information is scattered, and no single view shows what is ready, what is missing, and what needs attention.
StandardsOS is a working prototype and pilot platform. It is not presented as a finished enterprise product. It is a practical demonstration of how AI transformation can begin: by understanding the work, structuring the knowledge, building useful workflows and keeping people in control.
